The Naked Office

Exclusively on Virgin 1 The Naked Office is a controversial documentary on a social experiment – to help a business be more effective by bearing all emotionally, intellectually and physically. Six companies in the UK have risen to the challenge.

They each go through a unique journey specifically designed for them to make the greatest possible positive impact on their lives and businesses. Looking at what’s working well and what would work better if changed. Prioritising them in order of what will make the largest positive impact on their business and their lives. These result in numerous different challenges throughout the week.

The final challenge for Friday is always the same – to come into the office naked. There are three psychological reasons behind why coming into the office naked may work:

1. Building Confidence: when we do something out of the ordinary, something extreme, so long as it is something we choose to do, it will build ones confidence.
2. Bonding A Team: when a team goes through an intensive experience together it unites them greater than anything else.
3. Encouraging Authenticity: the journey through the week and the final Friday challenge strips down ones barriers literally and metaphorically and forces the individual to be more authentic, uniting the home and work personas that most people have and creating a more confident stronger person.

The concept was also a great success in the piloted version. However it is so against our social norms that it was interesting to see how different people reacted to the week in such different ways.
